ABOUT OUR SPECIAL GUESTS:

Our Space Coast has such a unique and abundant ecosystem, but did you know we also have amazing organizations working hard to conduct research, educate and advocate to protect and save many of our natural resources and habitats?

First, Dr. Leesa Souto, executive director of Marine Resources Council (MRC) will take you on a virtual tour down the Indian River Lagoon as she teaches us about this fragile ecosystem and how MRC is working to protect and restore the fish and wildlife resources of the Indian River Lagoon. It will take our entire community, at all levels, to save the Lagoon we all know and love.

Then, get some sand between your toes (not really) as you walk down the beaches of Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge with David Godfrey, executive director of the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC). Did you know the Carr Refuge, established by Congress in 1989, is the Nation’s most significant land acquisition effort to protect the world’s sea turtles? David shares how coastal development in Brevard and Indian River Counties threatens the future of the Refuge and its role as a globally-important turtle breeding site. He also discusses the role each of us must play in safeguarding sea turtles and our natural beaches.
