MELBOURNE, Fla., (January 6, 2020) – The Community Foundation for Brevard has appointed officers and elected three new members to its volunteer Board of Directors, which creates the organization’s strategic vision and propels its progress to help build a healthier, more vibrant community through philanthropy.
Newly elected Community Foundation Directors:
Laura Chiesman, is the president of FirstWave Financial, an independent wealth management firm based in Satellite Beach. A prominent community leader and Brevard native, Chiesman is deeply connected and involved throughout the community.
Her recent community and professional activities include serving as the 2019 Campaign Chair for United Way of Brevard, as a board member of Genesis House, and engagement with the Women Presidents’ Organization, Knowledge College for Aging, League of Extraordinary Women, Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, Financial Planning Association, and more.
Kit Fisher is the executive vice president for Prime-One Insurance where he advises clients on their commercial, residential, life and disability insurance needs.
Fisher served as a member of the Community Foundation’s Board Grant Committee in 2019, as well as on its volunteer grant review and scholarship teams for the past two years. Recently ending a two-year term as the ENGAGE Young Professionals board chair, Fisher’s involvement earned him the Melbourne Regional Chamber’s Young Professional of the year award for 2019; he is also a member of 321 Millennials Brevard.
Anne J. McPhee is an attorney with Studenberg Law in Melbourne, with a practice concentrated on estate planning, wills, trusts and the administration of trusts and estates.
President of the Brevard County Estate Planning Council board, McPhee is also a member of the Health First Foundation Planned Gift Advisory Council, the Brevard County Bar Association, the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar, and she was on the Steering Committee for the 11th Annual Joint Tax and Estate Planning Seminar. McPhee is a former member of the Professional Advisor’s Committee for the Community Foundation of Broward and was named as one of the Rising Stars in Florida for 2010 and 2011 by Florida Super Lawyers Magazine.
Officers and returning board members include: Robert J. Naberhaus III, Board Chair; Amanda G. Smith, Vice Chair; Elizabeth O. Shorr, Secretary; Juliana Kreul, Treasurer; Shirley Friedland; Jennifer Griffin; Justin Knox; Arthur R. Schmitt; Bob Sukolsky; James F. Suplee; and Myles H. Wilkinson.
Additionally, Michael Cerow, Brian Fisher and Linda May, after a decade each of visionary leadership and distinguished service were invited and appointed as Directors Emeritus for the organization.
