The Brevard Veterans Resource Network is a broad coalition of groups providing information, resources and support to veterans and their families throughout Brevard County. Additionally, the network works to increase knowledge, communication and coordination among agencies and the community to facilitate referrals and support to thousands of active duty military, veterans and their family members. Representatives from government, corporate and nonprofit entities as well as private individuals and community leaders comprise the network. Network members and guests meet quarterly, to update and learn from each other, exchange information, assess gaps in service and collaborate.
Individuals can access network resources through several channels:
- An exclusive web portal on the 211 Brevard website features a categorized and descriptive database of veteran- and military-serving community service organizations and contact information
- A Veterans Response Team Specialist at 211 Brevard offers full-service care coordination over the telephone to meet individuals’ needs
- The Brevard Veterans Resource Network Facebook page highlights the latest news and upcoming events
The Brevard Veterans Resource Network represents the unified activities of the Community Blueprint-Brevard, an initiative co-led by the Military Officers Association of America-Cape Canaveral and the Community Foundation for Brevard, and a project team from LEAD Brevard’s Leadership Brevard Class of 2016. A leadership group that provides strategic guidance and oversight of the network is made up of representatives from 211 Brevard, Brevard Veterans Council, CareerSource Brevard, City of Palm Bay, Community Foundation for Brevard, Eastern Florida State College, Military Officers Association of America-Cape Canaveral, The TECH Project and Veterans Administration.
Initial support was provided by several funds held at the Community Foundation for Brevard, including, the Fulton’s Folly Fund in Memory of Robert M. Fulton, Harris Corporation Charitable Fund, and the Petre Family Charitable Fund. Additionally, The Boeing Company provided critical funding for the program through 2016.
Additional support is needed and welcome. If you are interested in funding or participating in the Brevard Veterans Resource Network – or any aspect of its program – please contact Theresa Grimison at 321-752-5505.
